Wellbeing & Mental Health

We are delighted that Galley Hill has been awarded the Healthy Young Minds in Herts Accreditation for Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health Awareness, acknowledging that we, as a school community, are fully committed to developing and supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our children, staff, parents and carers.

Looking after our mental health is just as important as looking after our physical health. At Galley Hill we understand how important it is to support the mental health and wellbeing of not only our children, but our wider school community.

Follow the links in this section to find ideas all relating to the '5 ways to wellbeing', including ways in which you can keep active, be mindful and connect with nature, friends and family, all of which can help support your mental health.

You can also find stories relating to anxiety and stress, a page for parents/carers, including our parent guide to supporting your child's mental health and wellbeing, and information on the importance of sleep.

WithYouth Instant Messaging Service

The WithYouth service provides online support to children and young people experiencing mental ill health and/or emotional distress.

This is a countywide service available for any Hertfordshire resident aged 5-18, as well as parents, carers and professionals.

Their instant messaging service is a safe, supported online space for you to talk to us about the things that are important to you. If you are struggling with your feelings, we can work alongside you to help you explore and understand them.

If you are between the ages of 5-18 or a parent/caregiver of a 5-18 year old, message us to get support with any mental health concern.

We can talk about what you are experiencing and offer you support, information and advice.

  • Are you experiencing a dip in your mental health?
  • Are things difficult with school, family or friends?
  • Are you stressed, worried, anxious or overwhelmed?
  • Is there something impacting your wellbeing that you would like to talk through?

Every day from 2pm-10pm (excluding Bank Holidays)
