As we come to the end of this school term, I would like to thank you all for your continued support as we strive to be the best possible community for all of our children and families. It is a pleasure to work with such fantastic pupils, staff and governors and I was extremely proud to have our good work recognised by Ofsted back in October.
I would also like to take this opportunity to wish you all a peaceful holiday, a very Merry Christmas and a happy new year. We look forward to seeing all of the children back in school on Tuesday 7th January.
Christmas Present Bank
As you will know, this week, we held a Christmas present bank at school. We know this is a difficult time for so many and we were pleased to be able to make a difference to some of you by supporting you in this way. I would like to say a massive thank you to all who donated gifts in order to help other families in our community. It is things like this that make Galley Hill so special. I would like to say a particularly huge thank you to Miss Reardon who planned and organised the event. We are very lucky to have her in our team.
Sharing Assemblies
Thank you to all classes who shared their learning this term in their sharing assemblies and to the parents and carers who came to watch. Each class will do a sharing assembly once in the year to share what they have been learning with their adults from home. The full list of sharing assemblies can be found on our calendar.
The assemblies taking place in the Spring term are:
4 Opal – Thursday 16th January
2 Pearl – Thursday 30th January
6 Topaz – Thursday 13th February
1 Crystal – Thursday 13th March
5 Sapphire – Thursday 20th March
Reception Turquoise – Thursday 3rd April
All assemblies begin at 9am.
We will reschedule the assembly for Team Amethyst for the summer term.

OPAL donations
If anyone is having a bit of a clear out of items over the Christmas period we would love any donations for OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning). We would particularly love small world items (cars, toy animals, toy people etc) or any sports equipment. Thank you again for your ongoing support.
A message from the Chair of Governors
I would like to wish all the staff, parents, carers and children a very peaceful and happy Christmas from the board of governors. This has been my first term as Chair of governors and it has been both challenging and rewarding. As you all know we had an Ofsted inspection in October. We were very pleased that the inspectors recognised the hard work and dedication of all the staff to make Galley Hill a safe and happy learning environment and awarded Good in every category. There were some concerns that attendance is below acceptable. There have been all sorts of bugs going around this term. Let's hope that 2025 will be a healthier and happy new year for all.
