Welcome to our website

Message from the Headteacher

Welcome to Galley Hill Primary School and Nursery and welcome to our new website! We hope that our existing community find it more user-friendly and easier to navigate, particularly on a smartphone, and we hope that visitors can get a real flavour of our school.

I have had the privilege of being a part of Galley Hill since the school opened in 2008, and I am extremely proud of the community we have built in this time. Visitors to our school always comment on the friendly and welcoming atmosphere and the enthusiasm of our children. Our children share that they feel safe and happy and that they have adults in school who they trust and they feel they can speak to. We take our safeguarding responsibilities extremely seriously.

Our children are the centre of all that we do and we strongly believe that partnerships with parents and carers is essential to our pupils feeling settled and making good progress. We love to welcome parents into school as much as possible and to greet families on the playground before school each morning.

Working with parents, governors and staff, we devised our school vision statement and values, and we regularly speak with our children about what it means to show resilience and perseverance. We introduce our children to examples of people through history who have had high aspirations and gone on to achieve great things and our curriculum is constructed to support this vision and develop a sense of curiosity. While developing our curriculum, we have thought carefully about equality, strive to be a truly anti-racist school and fully promote the fundamental British Values.

We pride ourselves on being an inclusive school community and our positive behaviour policy is based on a therapeutic approach. We believe passionately about developing our children to be citizens of the future and our approaches to personal development have been described as ‘exceptional’.

We hope that our website will be useful to you and will answer any questions you may have about Galley Hill Primary School and Nursery. If you require a paper copy of any items on our website, these can be printed for you free of charge on request to the school office. Please also feel free to contact us if you require any further information about any aspect of school life.
