Tag Rugby 02.10.24
We are thrilled to share with you the exciting details of our recent Year 5 Tag Rugby trip to Camelot Rugby Club! It was a morning full of action, teamwork, and rain. The children were split into teams of up to 10, with 7 players on the field at a time, ensuring everyone had plenty of opportunity to get involved.
What made us incredibly proud was how well they worked together. Every child played their part, from cheering each other on from the sidelines to stepping up on the field with great displays of leadership, cooperation and determination. It was wonderful to see them taking turns seamlessly and supporting their teammates, fostering a true sense of unity.
Even when faced with setbacks, the children weren't discouraged. Instead, they used these moments as opportunities to reflect, adapt, and strategise, demonstrating incredible resilience. Watching them learn and improve as they went along was truly inspiring, and they never lost their enthusiasm or drive to keep getting better.
We couldn’t be prouder of their efforts both on and off the field. Thank you for your continued support in encouraging these budding tag rugby stars!
A special thank you to our parent helpers that were able to join us and help make the event run smoothly. Our next trip is on Monday the 21st October where we will be running cross-country at JFK school. If you are able to help, please contact the office or the Y5 team.
Once we were back at school and had refuelled, we discussed and reflected on our teamwork and the day as a whole. Here are some comments from the children about the day:
"Everyone was checking on each other and our team was well-organised as we kept taking turns." - Elliot
"The first game we lost, but this helped us learn better tactics and this meant we won later games." - Maddie
"We planned who was in what position, and we came up with different strategies." - Emily

"While we were waiting, we practised our skills." - Evan

"In the final 14th round - at first I was the first one to tag the opposition. I did it at the last possible moment and the cheer from my team was great." - George
"I like that our team didn't give up. We swapped quickly and we were led to victory!" - Joey
"We had some great leadership and teamwork. We all cooperated and listened to each other." - anonymous
