What an incredibly exciting week we have had at Galley Hill! It has been so busy with the Year 2 trip to Windsor Castle, another Rock Steady Concert, the Key Stage One Performance, Nursery Songs and our Christmas dinner, jumpers and musical showcase day. We are so proud of all of the children who have performed – it takes a lot of courage to get up on the stage! I would like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Ewer who organised our Christmas Musical Showcase on Wednesday. Unfortunately, as this event involved the whole school, we were unable to also invite parents as we simply do not have the space to fit everyone. However, it was a really lovely community event for all of the children to have a wonderful singalong together and the atmosphere was fantastic. Well done Team Galley Hill!
Staff News
I am delighted to share that Mrs Pritchett gave birth to baby Arthur John last Thursday. I am sure that everyone will want to join me in saying a huge congratulations to Mrs Pritchett and her husband on their new arrival.
For the Spring term, we say a temporary goodbye to Mrs Dumpleton, Miss Friend and Miss Barnes as they all go to complete a second training placement at an other school, as is the requirement of their course. We will be welcoming some new student teachers for the same period. Miss Camfield will be working in 1 Crystal, Miss Yalden will be working in 2 Diamond and Miss Fielder in 3 Ruby.
Parking and Dropping off
Once again, we are becoming increasingly concerned about the safety of our community due to the inconsiderate parking / idling of some parents outside of the school gates, particularly on Pudding Lane. Cars should not be parking or even stopping on the zig zag lines by the gate or the yellow line on the road opposite. People choosing to do this are making the area extremely dangerous for pedestrians as cars mount the pavement and block the path. Please park with consideration for others and do not pull in and drop your child off as this still makes the situation dangerous.
Senior Leadership Team
As a reminder, the school has a large senior leadership team. They are:
Headteacher – Mrs Birch
Deputy Headteacher / Key Stage One (Years 1 and 2) Leader – Mrs Reynolds
Assistant Headteacher – Mrs Jackson
Early Years (Nursery and Reception) Leader – Mrs Oakley
Lower Key Stage Two (Years 3 and 4) Leader – Miss Featherstone
Upper Key Stage Two (Years 5 and 6) Leader – Mrs Spooner
School Business Manager – Miss Scott
If the class teacher has been unable to support you with a question or concern, your next port of call should be the Key Stage Leader.
As with any email communication, if you wish to email the Key Stage Leader, please use the admin@galleyhill.herts.sch.uk email address. This is the only email address that we know will be monitored on each school day.
Term Dates
Just a reminder that the school term will end for all children at 2pm on 20th December. The children should all return on Tuesday 7th January at the usual time of 8:45am.
News
Parent/Carer SEND coffee mornings.
Lynn from the Herts Parent Carer Involvement (HPCI) will be hosting her last Parent/carer coffee morning here at Galley Hill on Friday 14th February at 8.55am.
Due to popular demand, we are going to continue providing Parent/Carer SEND coffee mornings at Galley Hill.
The two dates we have set for the rest of this academic year are:
Friday 28th March at 8.55am.
Friday 13th June at 8.55am.
These will be a chance for parents to get together and share experiences and knowledge. The meetings will be hosted by a member of the SEND team at Galley Hill.
More information will be sent at a later date regarding the topic that will be discussed at these meetings.
Toys in School
Children must not bring their own toys into school. This includes items that might be classed as fiddle or sensory toys. These items and toys can become lost in school and cause upset. If you feel your child requires a sensory item to support them at school then please speak to their class teacher in the first instance or a member of the SEND team if you would like advice. School will provide sensory items for children when required. Thank you.
