We hope that all of our families had a restful half term break. It has been lovely to see the children back in school this week.
As ever, it has been extremely busy with Nursery children having a ‘Little City’ experience on Monday, the children from Reception being visited by a t-rex on Tuesday and Year 1 attending a Sports Festival on Thursday. It is such a joy to provide the children with all of these extra-curricular experiences to enhance their learning. We are extremely grateful to staff and parents for making this possible.
Parent Consultations
Parent consultations for this term are taking place on Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th March. All parents should now have received the link for booking a slot with their child’s teacher for these consultations. This will give you the opportunity to discuss the progress your child is making, their attitudes to learning and to raise any questions you may have. We strongly encourage all parents to take up the opportunity of booking an appointment.
Year 3/4 Times Tables Open Morning
A reminder to parents of children in Year 3 and 4 that there is a times tables open morning taking place on Wednesday (5th March) from 9am. This will give you the opportunity to find out more about the way we teach tables in school, the multiplication check that children take at the end of Year 4 and to go into class to work with your child on times table activities. We really look forward to welcoming lots of you to school for this event.
World Book Day
A reminder that next week is also World Book Day.
We are excited that it is nearly time to celebrate World Book Day (6th March) at Galley Hill!! As always we will be following the theme for the year which is: 'reading your own way'. We are planning lots of exciting reading based events for the children including online events and activities in the classrooms.
A few things we thought you might like to know in advance:
Dress code: PJs and onesies for the day. (The children can still come to school in uniform if they would prefer.)
Parents/Carers 'story time': We will be inviting parents and carers to come in to read with their children from 2:45pm - 3.10pm.
We are asking that all of the children bring in a book to share with their peers. This can be a favourite story, magazine, graphic novel, comic etc.
Open Classrooms
Thursday 6th March is also our next open classrooms event from 3:15 to 3:45pm. All classrooms across the school will be open if you wish to go in to look at your child’s learning in books and on display.
Sharing Assembly
Many thanks to Team Topaz for presenting their learning this week. The next sharing assemblies will be presented by Team Crystal on Thursday 13th March and Team Sapphire on Thursday 20th March, both at 9am.
