At the end of an extremely long half term, it has been another busy week here at Galley Hill. We were very proud of all of our children in Key Stage Two who represented the school at a Dacorum School Sports Network cross country event on Monday. We obviously have children of all sporting abilities and my understanding is that everyone who attended tried their best and represented the school positively. Thank you to all staff and parents who made this opportunity possible.
Thanks also to all of you who have attended parent consultations over the last two evenings. There is always such a positive atmosphere in the halls and we really hope you found it useful to find out about how your child has settled into their new class and how they are progressing with their learning. Many thanks to all who provided feedback to the governors on our graffiti wall – we will analyse and discuss the responses and provide a response to all that we can.
I wish you all a lovely half term holiday and look forward to seeing all of the children back in school on Monday 4th November.
SATs Information Meeting for Year 6 Parents
Mrs Spooner and Miss Hosein will be holding an information meeting for parents of children in Year 6 on Monday 4th November at 5pm. The aim of this meeting is to share information regarding the children’s upcoming SATs tests and talk about ways you can support in preparing them. We look forward to welcoming lots of you to the meeting.
Sharing Assemblies
We will be starting our annual run of sharing assemblies on Thursday 14th November when Team Onyx will be sharing their learning for parents and carers at 9am. Each class will have the chance to share their learning at some point in the year. Children do a short presentation to parents and some of the other children and then parents have a chance to go back to the classroom to look at the children’s learning in books and on display. Parents wishing to attend assemblies should come to the office after drop off. Also this term, Team Emerald will be sharing their learning on Thursday 21st November and Amethyst will have their turn on Thursday 28th November.
Open Classrooms
On Monday 4th November, we will be holding our next open classrooms of the year from 3:15pm to 3:45pm. This is the opportunity for children to bring their parents back into the classroom to share learning in books and on the walls. In response to parent comments, we are trying to change the day of these this year so they are not always on a Thursday.

School Photos
We have the school photographer in on the first day back after Half Term, Monday 4th November so please make sure that your child is in school on time and looking smart!
Scooter Parking
It is lovely that so many of our children are scooting or riding to school but can you please remind your child to park them in the scooter pods or bike racks that are available and not to leave them along the walkways outside the dining room as these are constantly in use and we do not want children falling over them. Thank you.
