Message from Mrs Birch

Mrs Birch
Mrs Birch - Headteacher

We hope the children have all had an enjoyable sporting week with Sports Day on Wednesday, and Health and Well-Being Day today. Thank you to all parents who came to support your child at our Sports Day. It was such a relief that it mostly stayed dry and we were so proud of how well the children all participated. There was some really lovely examples of the older children supporting the younger ones and really demonstrating our Galley Hill expectations. Well done to all in Horowitz (blue team) on your win! I need to say a huge THANK YOU to Miss Penning, who makes both events run so smoothly each year. It really is a big undertaking to organise and we are very grateful to be able to provide the children with these experiences.

Enterprise Fair

This week, Year 6 held their Enterprise Fair. This is the culmination of weeks of work where they have looked at budgeting, best value and how to create a successful business venture.  This year they had an amazing £572 in profit!!  Some of this money will go to a charity chosen by each class and the rest will be used to go toward the Leaver's Party as well as a few end of term treats.  Thank you so much for all those who attended - we hope you enjoyed it!

Switcheroo Transition Day

A further reminder that our ‘switcheroo’ transition day will take place on Thursday 10th July (the same day our children in Year 6 go to visit their new secondary schools). On this day, the children will spend the morning with their class teachers for the next academic year. After school on that day, there will be an Open Classrooms event where your child can bring you to their new classroom so you can see where they will be and say hello to the new teacher.

A staff structure for the next academic year will be sent out early next week.

School Reports

Your children’s reports for this academic year will be sent home on Friday 11th July. Teachers work extremely hard preparing these reports and we really hope that they are informative to you.

Leaver’s Assembly

On Wednesday 23rd July, we will be having our Year 6 Leaver’s Assembly at 9am. All parents / carers of children in Year 6 are invited to attend for the assembly and afterwards for refreshments. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible – bring the tissues!
